Editorial Review:

Product Description:

In Copenhagen . . . a suspicious bookstore fire propels Commander Gray Pierce on a relentless hunt across four continents—and into a terrifying mystery surrounding horrific experiments once performed in a now-abandoned laboratory buried in a hollowed-out mountain in Poland.

In the mountains of Nepal . . . in a remote monastery, Buddhist monks inexplicably turn to cannibalism and torture—while Painter Crowe, director of Sigma Force, begins to show signs of the same baffling, mind-destroying malady . . . and Lisa Cummings, a dedicated American doctor, becomes the target of a brutal clandestine assassin.

Now only Gray Pierce and Sigma Force can save a world suddenly in terrible jeopardy. Because a new order is on the rise—an annihilating nightmare growing at the heart of the greatest mystery of all: the origin of life.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Not bad at all
I really enjoyed the book. It is well-written and easy to read. The plot is interesting, the characters are engaging. The science and history are quite intriguing. Compared to the authors other, more "outlandish" books, this one is not so "out there".

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Black Odor
I bought this and Judas Strain at a used book store. Thankfully, I didn't pay full fare for these rides or the nausea would have been overwhelming.

I started Black Order out of desperation one night when insomnia struck and there was nothing left to read. I stopped reading after 200 pages, so I gave it a fair shot.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Listen up - One of Rollins' best Books.
If you like books that start with excitement then you will like this book several times over; A baby saved from drowning in Poland when the mother was shot -- A monastery in the Himalayas struck with a mysterious illness leaving all dead -- People killed in Copenhagen when unknowns were trying to get Darwin's bible anyway that they could -- A Doctor in Africa attacked in the jungle and dragged away by a ghostly beast with eyes of fire. There were so many sub-plots that it was like reading multiple ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome
This is by far the best James Rollins book I've read so far. Demonstrating his impressive scope of vision and imagintion, he pulls together science, history and the occult into a plot that grabs you and holds you tight until the last page.

While I found some other books by this author quite readable but still sadly shallow and lacking feasibility, "Black Order" has no such flaw. The opening of the book takes place in post World War II Germany, which I think will hook many European readers ... Read More
