Often, reading about this topic can be depressing at best ... but by focusing on (or at least switching frequently to) the stories of successful contemporary abolitionists, this book avoids that. Instead, it manages to create a sense of hope coupled with obligation--a sense reinforced by the list of suggestions and organizational contact information at the end. Read this. Then, pass your copy along to a friend, and ask that it keep getting read. Rating: - The Best Introduction to the Global Slave TradeNot for Sale is the best introduction to the global slave trade I've read. It is full of heart-wrenching stories and information about how the trade works. It is an easy read and David Batstone did a very good job breaking down some complex information and theories and presenting them in an easy to understand way. This is an excellent book if you are trying to learn what exactly the global slave trade is and who it effects and how you might be able to get involved. Rating: - Yes, slavery today and more than ever before!David Batstone presents a deep look at human trafficking and slavery. We seemed to think that the U.S. Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement actually fixed the problem. However, these ancient practices of our wonderful human nature have not gone away. Read More Rating:  - Still recommend to readInterestingly written and bringing the problem of human trafficking and all its related issues to light. Educational reading for sure. I was shocked to read about restaurant labor in this country being trafficked, as one example. It just read too much like a fictional novel at some times. If you look to learn about this problem in an entertaining and easy way I can recommend this book. If you look for more indepth facts and figures leave it alone.
