do not try to take step 1 without thoroughly reading, understanding and annotating this book. of course there are errors but google and get them corrected. i wrote notes in mine while doing usmleworld questions if i didnt know something or it wasn't contained in FA.

Everyone I met said I needed this book to do well on Step I. And it turns out, I needed this book to do well on Step I. Buy this book. Memorize this book. This book is your key to success. That being said, I don't think you need to buy the latest and greatest edition. I took the exam in 2007 but used a 2005 version of the book, and I was fine.

This is a great book and is ALL YOU NEED, in addition to a QUESTION BANK. If you put in the time to learn this material and learn from your mistakes on missed questions on your question bank, you will do well on the actual exam. What I did was after reviewing each section, taking practice sets of questions and writing the things I missed into the margins in the appropriate sections of the book.
