I picked up this book at the beginning of my third year of teaching. I found exactly what I needed to advance my instruction to the next level. I developed student-friendly learning targets for each math unit. I communicated the learning targets to students and families at the beginning of the unit. Students were strongly encouraged to use the learning targets to evaluate their own learning.
