Editorial Review:

Product Description:
This book presents teaching from three specific actions, Organizing, Instructing, and Assessing, and is divided into three sections which reflect each of these teaching actions. The strategies presented in each section are truly universal in nature; they cut across grade levels, subject areas, and teaching situations. The book emphasizes Context, Content, and Learner as essential elements in the decision-making process. This book bridges the gap between theory, research, and practice with clear and effective writing, and a framework that combines the context, content, and learner with what teachers need in the real world: organizing, instructing, and assessing. Universal Teaching Strategies expands both the pedagogical teaching knowledge of teachers and their instructional repertoires. For the continuing education of pre-service and in-service teachers.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Satisfied buyer
I purchased this textbook new at a good price. I received free shipping and the book arrived sooner than I expected. This is a great book for anyone who is currently in, or entering the education field. It has lots of helpful information. I am very pleased with the way the information is presented.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This book helped learn about myself and about my teaching ability
For me, the most helpful part about this book is the chapter that has you audio tape a 20 minute teaching session. It gives you a step-by-step guide on what to analyze and suggestions for improvement. For example, I always thought I was a positive, upbeat person, but when I had to count how many positive statements I made to the students, they were surprisingly low. Also, I didn't even use their names!

This book gave me several more realizations about my teaching (more than most ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - not too great
As is the problem with most educational texts, so much of the material is common sense. You'll find yourself wondering, is this research? The book is well-organized and covers many topics, but no earth-shattering material is presented.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Easy to read, effective, and invaluable to ALL teachers
This book is an excellent guide for not only teachers of all subject areas but is an invaluable guide for parents that are concerned with educational lingo. The book is easy to read due to chapter layouts; pointing out critical attributes that make education effective in a logical manner. Parents can read/learn strategies that will help their children (of all ages).
