If you're actually trying to learn concepts and understand the material in any deep fashion this text will confound you and leave you with a shallow overview with some "tools". The text would often refer to figures and tables nowhere in the vincinity, and it was written in such a way that it was extremely difficult to follow. They didn't emphasize the important parts, so it was unclear what we should've known. I have used this text book both to assist my students in Intro to Materials Science and to review for my PhD examination. It is every bit as good as Callister's textbook, and contains lots of detail Rating: - GREAT TEXTThis text is a gem, but not as widely-used for introductory materials science classes as similar books (cf. Callister). However, this book is clear, offering lucid explanations and pedagogically sound diagrams to support the explanations. I only wish this book would catch on at more universities...
