Yet, for a variety of reasons, far too little attention is given to the quality of these crucial years. Outmoded theories, outdated facts, and undersized budgets all play a part in the uneven quality of early childhood programs throughout our country.

What will it take to provide better early education and care for our children between the ages of two and five? This book is instrumental in helping us to look at the preschool programming we already have and in guiding us in our growth. We have been looking for something that is steeped in research and practical in application. This is a rich book.

The free, available executive summary gives a nice introductory to his books bursting at the seems with research information from the most notable names in early childhood education.

It may not apply too much to classroom teachers, but it will greatly help higher education scholars.
