 Rating:  - Brief, but goodThis is a brief commentary, but I think it is a good supplement to a more thorough work. The brevity of it is succinct, to the point. I find this of value because in my work if there are too many thorough works I have to wade through, I might be apt to not use it so much. I really like the introductory material. To be fair, I have yet to use this particular volume. However, as there seem to be no competent reviews on the set as a whole, I did want to add my impressions of this terrific resource. Rating: - The Complete Guide to the Book of Proverbs is more current.Overall Vol 5 - Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes & Songs of Songs is an excellent, authoratative and in-depth commentary written in 1991. The text quoted is the New International Version which was translated in 1984. A lot of progress has been made in Biblical archaelogy and scholarship in the last 16 years since the NIV and in the last 9 years since this commentary was compiled. For an in-depth and more current commentary on Proverbs get THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE BOOK OF PROVERBS by Cody Jones (1999). ... Read More
