Accessible and concise, it focuses on the physical examination centering on a specific chief complaint rather than a diagnosis of a disease entity. Each chapter is organized in five major areas: Diagnostic Reasoning: Focused History; Key Questions; Diagnostic Reasoning: Focused Physical Examination; Laboratory and Diagnostic Studies; and Differential Diagnosis. The primary care provider who masters the differential diagnoses in this text will be able to accurately diagnose the majority of patients seen in practice today!

![]() Rating: - great book for NP studentsI found this book to be very helpful. Based on symptoms instead of disease, which was easier to understand and help formulate differential diagnoses in clinical practice. Rating: - Advanced Health Assessment in Primary CareI think this book is great! It focuses on common symptom complaints in primary care and differential diagnosis. I am a FNP student about to graduate in 8 months and find this book to be very informative and worth every penny. I plan on suggesting this book to be required for the program. Rating: - Adv Health AssessmentRecieved this book in adequate time and it is a good book for learning. Thanks Rating: - Comparison to 2nd editionNice book. I have the 2nd edition and compared it with the newer edition. The 3rd edition is much the same as the 2nd but with 2 additional chapters--one on "Mood Changes, Behavior Changes..." and then one on clinical CXR (chest x-rays). Helpful book for students. Rating: - easy to read and helpfulgreat book for health care providers just starting out or for students like myself. It's well- organized and concise. Worth the price.
