Editorial Review:

Product Description:
This widely used and respected book presents an active, multisensory approach to group leading, focusing heavily on group leadership skills. While written with the counselor in mind, GROUP COUNSELING: STRATEGIES AND SKILLS, Sixth Edition, also provides an outstanding discussion of group dynamics for professionals in group leadership positions. The authors discuss the many facets of group counseling and provide examples that show how each skill can be applied in a wide range of group settings to produce efficient working groups.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Basic and obvious
This book could have been a 10 page pamphlet. It was simplistic and boring, with very unrealistic dialogue. Not one of the people in my group counseling class a single good thing to say about it other than that it was cheaper than most of the books we have had to buy. Although every one of the other books I have bought for graduate school are staying on my shelf as references, this one is going straight up for resale.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - group counseling
This book is the best textbook. It is actually the first one I have read cover to cover. It will be a great resource and is exactly the same as the new edition! Thanks!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Practical & Thorough
As a graduate student in a group dynamics class I found this book very practical and thorough. I like Yalom's interpersonal approach a lot too but I find that this book covers the nuts and bolts of groups really well.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - SLOW DELIVERY
I promptly emailed the company and told them that I ordered the wrong book. I asked them if there was any way for them to stop my order. They never replied and it still too 2 weeks for me to recieve my book. When I received my book there was not receipt or return address.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Counseling groups? You probably need this!

Jacobs's introduces group concepts within the integrative framework of Impact Therapy, a dynamic approach to counseling, incorporating theory and creative techniques, that he developed. His style, while not for everyone, provides the tools that a courageous counselor ... Read More
