The book follows the format of previous editions, with questions followed by discussion. This edition has been expanded and updated to include advances in surgery, including minimal access surgery, ultrasonography, and cryosurgery. It also discusses the evolving role of infectious diseases such as HIV, hepatitis and TB in surgery in a chapter detailing surgical infections. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - good review for the absitegood review for absite because the questions are harder. do not really appreciate the multiple choice questions that have more than one answer correct. great explanation of answers, both right and wrong ones, using pertinent information assumed in the question Rating: - essential for the AbsiteAlthough the format of the questions is different than the Absite, the info is great. Tough questions with plenty of info to keep you busy. Aim to finish this book before the Absite and you'll be well-prepared (at least for the lower levels). Rating: - Board ReviewI used this book ten years ago to study for the ABSITE was very pleased. I am very disappointed with the current edition. There are many typographical errors suggesting poor editing. The question and answer format is very difficult to figure out if they are looking for one or more answers. I would recommend the book as a very basic guide to get used to taking a test but I would no longer hold it as an authority. Many answers will require extensive cross referencing to validate. Rating: - real text bookIt covers all essential chapters in surgery,in a systemaic way from the basic scinces to the sub-speciality. i used this book for reviewing for my board exam. and i passed with a real v.good score. Rating: - Rush University Review of SurgeryI would say that for my intern year, this book helped a lot to study the significant topics. It is a good tool to have for the ABSITE, more comprehensive than just a regular Q&A book. In association with Amazon.com | |
