![]() Rating: - Very comprehensive!I used this book the week leading up to the exam. I found the review sections to be very comprehensive - covering the topics in greater depth than needed. While I was a bit discouraged at my poor performance on the first test, it was great to see my improvement. I scored much higher than my state's requirement, and will use the book as a resource in my lesson prep. It is much better than the ets prep book that reviews all of the Middle School subjects in the same book. Rating: - WHOA! Who wrote this book? This book is terrible. There were so many errors in it in the stuff I already knew, it made the material with which I was unfamiliar suspect. In some areas explanations of very basic concepts were finely detailed to the point of being ridiculous, and more complex skills and concepts were glossed over using symbols and notations without any explanation. The book also contained problems that were way beyond the scope of the Middle School Mathematics Test. The book did help me with the format, but ... Read More Rating: - Middle School Mathematics PraxisI found this book a more comprehensive approach for the Praxis exam. The sample problems found for each subject area had adequate explained answers, which showed how to accurately solve the problems. There were a few mistakes throughout the study portion, but overall not that much of a distraction. This study guide is a great resource for taking the Praxis exam. Rating: - Errors squaredHalf way through the first topic, arithmetic and basic algebra, I had to conclude there was no basic editing. There are 4 terrible errors in 3 consecutive pages (18-20). It is one thing to have an occasional typo but these are not typos. We are introduced to circle geometry on page 88. It states that the area of a circle is "given by the formula A = 2 x Pi x radius squared." Immediately following are some practice problems which I couldn't figure out. This is because the formula ... Read More Rating: - Errors Galore - where was the editor? As some other reviewers have noted, this review is just loaded with errors (some of them being of the extreme kind). Was the editor drunk or just non-existent? The publisher should be ashamed, and all purchasers should be warned that this book is like those "where's waldo" books - where you are looking for Waldo on every page - except, here Waldo=Error. Sadly, sometimes life is a lot like "Dilbert", and this sad text is definitely right out of "Dilbert-ville". In association with Amazon.com | |
