Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!
This book is terrible especially for the math section. The order of difficulty in this book is so erratic and random that it does not match the one used on the ACT.

Here is an example of a math problem found in this book:

13) (5 1/8) - (3 5/6) = ?
A) 1 7/24
B) 2 17/24
C) 1 1/2
D) 1 1/8
E) 1 7/24

Here is another bad math problem:
35) What base eight numeral corresponds to 90_(ten)?
A) 882_(eight)
B) 102_(eight) ... Read More

I am getting ready to take the test so I am confident that OI will pass this test thanks to this book

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - A Dishonest Mistake
I absolutely abhored this book and I regretted buying it. Though the explanation of the English sec. was acceptable, I was mostly upset with the way the explained the math format. They made the simplest concepts having to do with prealgebra or basic algebra more complicated for people who either know it or not. I agree with one of the reviewers who claimed that the questions were harder than questions on the actual ACT. I answered sample English questions online from the ACT's website and I easily ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A comprehensive study guide and a good value
Barron's is one of many publishers that sells standardized exam study guides. Given what the book contains and its price, 'How to Prepare for the ACT' is probably the best ACT book out there. The student has four opportunities to simulate the entire exam (one diagnostic test and three full 'model' ACT tests). I would recommend using many different resources to study for the ACT, but I would also recommend beginning with this book. It will be a lifesaver for procrastinators. It can also give you ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Worth every penny!
I took the ACT my junior year and only received a score of 25. However, after using this book for about a month in advance, I was able to achieve a score of 29. I attribute most of, if not all of that increase to this book. It's practice tests are great, but that is not all. For each section different topics are discussed and mini-tests are given in these areas. The English section really helped me to not only practice, but understand many simple ideas about grammar and punctuation, that I had never ... Read More
