The new edition of this popular guide for high-achieving college-bound students bypasses the standard test preparation drills and offers novel advice and innovative strategies for tackling the SAT's hardest questions. The book presents Critical Reading strategies for both long and short passages, concentrated help for writing a near-perfect SAT essay, and extra coaching in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and math word problems. Students will also find difficult practice questions with explained answers in all SAT test areas, upper-level vocabulary lists, and useful math formulas. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - a lot of easy problems, not enough hard onesHow does one get a 2400 if they practice many easy problems as opposed to difficult ones. There are too many easy problems in this book, which is a waste of time for high acheiving math students. Rating: - Not at all what I expectedWhen I bought this book, I expected it to be better than the Official SAT Guide at preparing me to get a 2400. However, after going through the first few chapters, I realized the questions are HORRIBLE. I've gotten an 800 in both Critical Reading and Writing sections on the SAT both times I've taken it, and really just wanted this book to help with math. But, since I bought it, I figured I should look at the Critical Reading and Writing sections anyway. I was surprised to find how ... Read More Rating: - Very good bookThe book was great in providing all the guidelines, examples, samples and tricks. I also enrolled my kids in a semi-private class. Together, the book and class helped raise their scores in ACT by at least 2 points. Rating: - Pretty Good Book. This book is great for any students who can already ace the basic questions. Thus, it focuses on difficult problems and gives you strategies to help you master the Level 4 and 5 questions. I haven't taken the SAT yet, but when I do, I will update my review. My used copy had some markings in the writing sections, but the math sections (the part I needed most) was pristine and untouched. Rating: - Great bookAlthough I didn't get 2400, this book raised my score from 1950-1990 to 2050-2100. The book has great tips for the CR part and for the writing part (I found the Math similar to the regular Barron's book) It raised my CR score by 60 points and improved my essay score to a solid 10. You can't use this book solely and you will need at least one of the SAT "normal level guides" for several reasons, for example this book has a poor vocabulary list and no practice tests.
