Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Updated to reflect the most recent tests and requirements, this manual prepares candidates for the Emergency Medical Technician Exam, a prerequisite for their qualifying license. Qualifications vary somewhat on a regional basis, but EMT certification is nationally recognized. This manual gives an overview of EMT duties and responsibilities and presents review questions with answers and explanations. Separate chapters cover patient assessment, medical/behavioral emergencies, obstetrics/gynecology, trauma, treating infants and children, and ambulance operation in emergencies. One full-length practice EMT Basic Exam that reflects the test administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, is also included with answers and explanations.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very satisfied
I bought a used book, it looked like new, very clean and it got to me faster than the estimate delivery date... I am happy :)

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - blatantly wrong answers
I bought this to review for my registry re-cert test. I also used the AAOS EMT-Basic review. While I sometimes got frustrated with the AAOS version for tricky wording or explanations of answers I disagreed with, the Barron's book was full of wrong answers. This wasn't a matter of interpretation just flat out wrong answers to questions. Here is an example of an answer explanation regarding adult burns and the rule of nines:

"The anterior chest is 18% of the total body surface area." ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Questions dont reflect NREMT test
This book only goes over the course material (some of it is even wrong) and doesn't prep you for the critical thinking necessary for the the national exam. I had better luck with the free "EMTB." web sites.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Resource!
I picked up this book to get a head start on studying for the EMT-B test. It is clearly written and goes over 25 chapters of information which is to be covered on the actual test. It is clear and easy to read. I really recommend this book if you want a jump start or supplemental material to review for the test.
