In 1977, pregnant Genevieve Russell disappeared. Twenty years later, her remains are discovered and Timothy Gleason is charged with murder. But there is no sign of the unborn child. CeeCee Wilkes knows how Genevieve Russell died, because she was there. And she also knows what happened to the missing infant, because two decades ago she made the devastating choice to raise the baby as her own. Now Timothy Gleason is facing the death penalty, and she has another choice to make. Tell the truth, and destroy her family. Or let an innocent man die in order to protect a lifetime of lies Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Good but not her best workThere are many things to like about this story, it moves fast and keeps the readers interest throughout. I loved that the mother left CeCe letters about life. I think it is what every Mother wishes she could write for her daughter. I always enjoyed the scenery of North Carolina that the author made seem so real. It is nice also to have a heroine that has a disease and that is not perfect. Most books make the heroine beautiful and perfect in every way. CeCe Wilkes is very real. The ending was ... I found the story very interesting, and loved the way Ms. Chamberlain kept my interest going. I found the end answered a lot of my own story questions, and did not leave me wondering....I just ordered 3 more of her books. I do liken her to Jodi Picoult too, and that is a good thing isn't it? Is it a literary masterpiece, I do not think so, but then those most of the time are not page turners. Rating: - Concerned ReaderBeing an avid inspirational reader, I was apprehensive when someone loaned this book to me. The story line was marvelous; however, the obscene words, explicit sex, issues mentioned in the story, were intolerable. An author doesn't have to put garbage in a book to be a "New York Best Seller." There are many wholesome writers who are on their best seller list. I give this book a 1 rating for the story line. My petition is for cleaner writting from a great story teller. Would read more of her books ... We understand CeeCee's motivations - her foolish eagerness, her lifelong guilt, her misguided love - and her desire to be the best mom she can to her daughters. The author deftly tackles big issues, like mother-daughter relationships, choices and consequences, morality, and the death penalty - without becoming preachy, moralistic or cliche. This story line bears a close ... Read More Rating: - FANTASTIC!One of the best books I have read in a long time. I read about a book a week and I'm always looking for new authors that I like. Well I found one! I highly recommend this book! In association with Amazon.com | |
