Structured by disorder, each listing includes a description of the clinical features, pathology, laboratory features (including morphologic characteristics), treatment, and a case study. Each disorder is then followed by various morphologic illustrations, which allow the user to build interpretative and evaluative skills. Other features include case quizzes along with 130 concept applications, over 100 image-based questions including rationale for correct answers, and two animated slide shows. This program will run on any IBM-PC or compatible computer that minimally includes: a Pentium II processor (Pentium III recommended); 128 MB RAM; Windows 98, NT, 2000, ME, or XP; CD-ROM drive; 1024x768 monitor resolution; mouse; and 150 MB of hard-disk space. The electronic Atlas is designed for students, not those already in the medical profession. I found this to be a priceless supplement to the instructional manuals I am using for a Hematology class. The layout is clear and concise, no overly verbose theory to deal with, just the facts. I was so pleased that I also bought the softcover Atlas of Hematology and recommended it to others in my class. This CD looked like an excellent way to enhance my knowledge and sharpen my diagnositic skills in hematology.
