Editorial Review:

Product Description:
The widely acclaimed text Clinical Anesthesia is now in its Fifth Edition, with thoroughly updated coverage and a new, more user-friendly design. More than 100 leading experts cover every aspect of contemporary perioperative medicine in one comprehensive, clinically focused, clear, concise, and accessible volume. New chapters in this edition cover genomic basis of perioperative medicine, office-based anesthesia, and disaster preparedness and bioterrorism. A new two-color page design enables readers to spot crucial information quickly. Each chapter opens with a numbered list of key points and the numbers are used in the margins to help readers locate information on those points.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - My reference book of choice
I use this book constantly. This is, in my opinion, the easiest of all the reference books to read and gets down to the information that I need. I love it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Outstanding clinical reference
Dr. Barash et. al. have produce a very thorough reference for clincal anesthesia. This book is great because it has the advanced information for understanding concepts of anesthesia without bogging you down with overwhelming research summaries. It is more advanced than Morgan and Mikhail but more understandable and to the point compared with Miller.
It is just right.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Barash Follower
In Anesthesiology they say you are either a "Barash Person" or a "Miller Person." It is my personal opinion that Barash does probably the best job at providing content that is relevant and devoid of minutia. All sections contain material that is optimal for reading and assimilation. The text is large, yet it is far from dry. I highly recommend this as "The" backbone text for Anesthesiology!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - a must read
confidence is key to anesthesia, and by reading this book evrything that we do in the OR starts making sense. Basics texts are for basics only.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good standard text book with some surprising omissions
If you consider buying you might want to add the little "handbook" that goes along with it. This combination works pretty well for review.
Overall, most chapters are well written and complete. However, the index is often less than ideal and can make finding a not so outlandish topic like SBE-prophylaxis rather difficult.
Should you get this one instead of the big "Miller"? Well, the coverage in Miller is still broader and more complete but at the price of a abundant prose, abundant weight ... Read More
