This easy-to-use book presents concise, digestible chunks of information in lists and outlines that facilitate quick memorization. Every component of the exam is covered--basic science and clinical knowledge in all areas tested. This edition incorporates common decision-making algorithms and covers the material that has appeared in the most recent exams. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Inaccurate!Questionable material and numerous inaccuracies. Contains way too much information not pertinent for today's surgical practice. Not recommended. Rating: - a great reviewThis and Rush make a good review before the Absite for the lower levels. It might be too simple for the advanced levels, but at least intern and R2 would benefit from this book. Was a very good review, just lacked a little detail on some things. (but had some very good high-yield points!) Rating: - Poor review with extraneous informationWhile this book may be a decent review of all of the basic science and clinical topics surrounding the field of surgery as a whole, it is not for the surgery intern or resident. Topics in basic science are too basic and not pertinent for the ABSITE or the surgery board examination. Clinical topics do not go into sufficient depth or breadth to be useful for the practice of surgery. NOT RECOMMENDED! Rating: - No focus on what is essential for surgeryPros: *Organized by chapter and detailed *Lots of nice images and diagrams *Fits in your pocket Cons: *No emphasis whatsoever on what you have to know *Lots of extraneous material *Somewhat outdated now, especially their basic science coverage Fiser's book is a great book that fits in your pocket. I used the first edition and was very happy with it. However, the same complaints I had with the first edition continue with this latest ... Read More Rating: - Better than the first editionThis second edition of the absite review book is even easier to read, with more pertinent diagrams, algorithms and important info for the test. Highly recommended as a principle sourse of review for your absite. In association with Amazon.com | |
