Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Prepared by residents and attending physicians at Massachusetts General Hospital, this pocket-sized looseleaf is one of the best-selling references for medical students, interns, and residents on the wards and candidates reviewing for internal medicine board exams. In bulleted lists, tables, and algorithms, Pocket Medicine provides key clinical information about common problems in cardiology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, nephrology, hematology-oncology, infectious diseases, endocrinology, rheumatology, and neurology. The six-ring binder resembles the familiar "pocket brain" notebook that most students and interns carry and allows users to add notes. This Third Edition is fully updated, has tabs to help readers locate organ systems, and has more cross-referencing in the index. It also has pockets in the front and the back of the book to accommodate the reader's own notes.

I cannot deny that this book fills a great need in internal medicine, where evidence based medicine is the current trend. For an advanced 3rd year medical student, 4th year medical student and interns alike, this book is solid gold. Get ready to begin practicing evidence based medicine the second you pick this book up. The most common ailments encountered by a house officer are listed with pretty much everything that you would need to know from A-Z to treat the disease or keep it under control ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great quick review for Internal Medicine
I'm a 4rth year med student and saw all the IM residents carrying this around so I figured it might be a good idea to pick up this little gem before I did my medicine sub-I. WOW, what a god send!! This is a really neat little book that has all the most important and pertinent data for management. It has a lot of good tables and charts and is a good reference for the most common medical problems you find inpatient. It also is a good quick review supplement for USMLE CK as well!!
