Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good Enough
I used this book to study pulmonary during my second year of medical school. It was a good book and it helped clarify a lot of the physical mechanics behind ventilation. However, I felt like it was very wordy. I like the "a picture is worth a 1000 words" approach to learning, so I felt that the paragraphs were too wordy and that the graph's captions did not explain enough. However, it was extremely helpful and a great study guide.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Intro for First Year
I bought this book for 5 bucks online and read it cover to cover in 2 days before the exam on pulm phys. Its a great, short book that encapsulates everything you need to know. Our lecturers ripped diagrams and concepts straight from the text.

I am really distracted by this - I have the current (eighth) edition and it says on the back and on the description here that the end of chapter questions have full explanations for all answer choices, which I value. Yet the appendix at the back is just an answer key with no explanations at all, just letters. This is really distracting to me, I keep thinking they must be somewhere! But it's not that big of a book. They totally aren't there, they aren't anywhere - it makes me not trust anything ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Too complex
I got this book free from a friend. This book was too complex for me in med school and is still too complex for me as an intern interested in Pulm Medicine. Stick with your school's curriculum to understand the concepts as best you can, like I did. I read reviews for another book entitled Respiratory Physiology: A Clinical Approach (Integrated Physiology) by a different author. I was so impressed by 10 5-star ratings for this book, I decided to purchase it now to regain better insight into pulm ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - good book
This one's a great book for lung mechanics. So far it has been very useful for my respiratory course. I would rate 4.9/5
