The book has been widely acclaimed for its systems-based organization, which parallels the USMLE Step 1 content outline and helps students synthesize the information from their basic science courses. The popular, user-friendly format features numerous charts and diagrams and Quick Hits notes in the margins that help students integrate concepts across systems. For this edition, the author has added numerous clinical vignettes and new mnemonics to each chapter. Pharmacology has been further integrated into the systems-based format with new illustrations, tables, and references. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Great with First AidThis is a great supplement to FA. The Neuro section is particularly useful as it goes through concepts more in depth than does FA. Rating: - Step UpThis book is a perfect brief systems review for the visual learner. It hits the high points and has more tables that make comparing disorders easier than in the First Aid. It has great diagrams as well and isn't as all over the place as First Aid. But, it does lack some of the information in the First Aid, but you can add that stuff in anyway or get it fom Goljan... Rating: - A little blandThis is an adequate review book for students already familiar with basic concepts. However, I found that it lacked the high-yield hits or points of emphasis that would help one remember the most important aspects of a given subject. I suggest reading this book after First Aid. Rating: - comparable to first-aidI haven't taken Step I yet, but so far I have been using it along with my classes on system. It is very helpful. I love the charts! Rating: - Lots of High yield infoThis book has a lot of useful info, probably more than 1st Aid, and the outline format organization is great to follow. So I think its best to either go with this book or 1st Aid. I recommend 1st Aid. It worked for me. In association with Amazon.com | |
