Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A good guide for Civil War and Women's History Buffs
Although I wished it would have a bit more depth, A Women's War has some interesting essays on what happened to women in the south before and after the civil war whether poor, white, slaves, free slaves, nurses, plantation runners etc. The best article is Majorie Spruill's article that talks about the question of women's suffrage in the south.
