Contributors have been chosen not only for their prominence in the field, but also because they are actively involved in patient care. Each chapter covers a condition that is seen with some frequency in the general surgeon's practice. For faster reference, chapters follow a consistent format: patient selection, timing of therapy, preoperative care, operative technique, postoperative management, adjuvant therapy, prevention and management of complications, and follow-up. Diagnosis and pathophysiology are discussed only to the extent that they affect treatment choices. Average Rating:

Some chapters are also based on the opinions of individual authors, and may not necessarily ... Read More Rating: - Strong, current review of general surgeryThis is THE book for a senior surgical resident to purchase. It is updated every 3 years, and reflects advances in techniques, preoperative and postoperative evaluation, and clinical management decision making for all of the commonly encountered problems in general surgery. The authors do not merely rehash the previous edition, but present the information in a clear, concise, and enjoyable text with good tables and images. It has been very helpful to me in my Chief year, and I expect it to help me pass my ... Read More In association with Amazon.com | |
