Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Georgetown Univ., Washington, DC. Text on the diagnosis and management of high-risk pregnancy and related conditions. Previous edition: c1994. For residents. DNLM: Pregnancy Complications--Therapy.

Book Description:
The fifth edition of this book is aimed at all health professionals involved in the care of women with high risk pregnancies. It is intended as a resource for perinatal care and as a reference for the diagnosis and management of high risk pregnancy. The material is presented in a clear, concise and practical manner. This work has become a classic, not only because of its coverage of the field, but because of its timeliness with respect to the many advances in perinatology. This fifth edition focuses on factors affecting pregnancy, genetics, practical diagnostic techniques, maternal diseases in pregnancy and pregnancy complications, labor, anesthesia, and neonatal considerations. Dr Queenan is joined in the the fifth edition by a new editor, Katherine Spong, Head of Perinatology at the National Institutes of Health. The book will take an explicitly evidence-based approach this time around and will expand upon several important areas; genetics, doppler ultrasound, prevention, AIDS, group B streptococcus, pre-eclampsia, and prematurity.
