![]() Rating: - Must have for Peds boardI am writing this review after passing my boards. I bought this book mainly to supplement my other books. Its an excellent review book, which you might read in the plane, subway, or travelling anywhere. Its brief, fun to read, easy to remember & covers most of the topics. Great book! Rating: - Good supplementYou cannot learn everything in the few months/weeks leading up to boards. I think this book was helpful to me because it had good memory tricks...and I can remember something better if it makes me laugh. I read it 3 times in the coffee shop over the 10 months leading up to boards, but my primary text was Zitelli. I passed even though I was doing a fellowship in neonatlogy at the time. I passed. Rating: - not worth itI am doing a Neonatology fellowship and I only had 2 weeks off to study for the boards. I couldn't get any studying done while I was on service in the NICU which was the 2 months prior to the boards. I had relied on this book as a review material because I wanted something quick and easy to read and I loved those "Made Ridiculously Simple" series. After reading the last review, it is clear that he never read Dr. Silverstein's book! I easily passed my exam using only Laughing Your Way to Passing the Pediatric Boards, and studying PREP questions. I read through this book with ease once, studied PREP, then reread this text again and it all came together. I found questions on the exam that I swear could have come directly from the case studies ... Read More Rating: - A couple of improvements over the earlier edition, but still WORTHLESSI was saddened to see a new edition of this book out on the market to waste the studying time and effort of a new crop of peds residents, but here it is. I flipped thorugh it and found it essentially no better than the terrible earlier version(s). Distracting. Poorly researched. Laden with typographical errors. It manages to provide chunks of useless info in some topics while still missing key points in others. Quite a feat! Save your money. In association with Amazon.com | |
