This is a great book for baking and decorating cakes. The instructions are easy to understand and the recipes I've tried so far have been satisfactory. The styles are a little dated and the focus seems to be on intricate piping design; however, the cakes are beautiful.

I've recently taken a Cake Decorating 1 course with Chef Toba. This book helps reinforce all that I learned and more.

The book is fantastic when it comes to instruction, but i was disappointed in that all the recipes are given in meter measurments. Not being that great in math, I found it highly frustrating having to transfer every measurement into English measures. Otherwise, they have some great ideas and beautiful work that is not that hard to master.

This is my first book for Toba Garrett, and it is a keeper. If you love to work with Royal Icing doing piping, here is a book for you. Toba is an excellent teacher and gave great tips in here recipes (Swiss buttercream icing - adding high ratio shortening when you are in a warm humid climet, like South Florida!). I have tons of baking and cake decorating book and this book is one you can keep in your bag for good reference. I'm looking forward to purchasing her books on cookies and professional baking ...
