Editorial Review:

Product Description:

At last, a relationship book for lesbians that tells it like it is . . .

The journey from sexual curiosity to finally coming out can be confusing without proper guidance and empowering role models. In Same Sex in the City, Lauren Levin and Lauren Blitzer provide women -- gay, straight, and bi-curious alike -- with firsthand insight into the advantages and challenges of being a lesbian. In prose that is at once honest and uplifting, the Laurens relate their own experiences and those of the women they interview, as well as offer serious advice, titillating anecdotes, and a positive attitude for girls who know they're gay -- and for those who are wondering about their sexuality but are not yet sure whether their Prince Charming is really a Cinderella.

Part confessional, part informational, Same Sex in the City covers the gamut of lesbian life -- from dating to heartbreak, and from hooking up with straight chicks to raising a family. It's the book that millions of women have been searching for -- a relationship guide that will help every woman come to terms with and celebrate her sexuality, whatever it may be.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not Helpful
Definitely geared toward the 18-21 year-old femme crowd. Although I fell into that demographic at the time of purchase, it still wasn't very helpful and certainly wasn't empowering. I hadn't yet come out to myself, and I honestly think it made the process even more confusing. I agree with other readers' negative critiques in terms of content quality, etc. I am still on the hunt for a better book...

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great book
this was a great book, with a lot of insight from many walks of life. price is a bit high though, considering it isn't that long and is paperback.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Finally: A book for those who date AND are pretty, stylish lesbians!
Wow. Thank you, Laurens, for writing exactly what the world needed: a book that offered advice and great stories for lesbians who a. not only don't fit the awful lesbian stereotype, but also hate that this stereotype exists b. believe that their desire to look attractive has NOTHING to do with their sexual preference c. know that their desire for pretty feminine women doesn't mean they are 'less lesbian' than someone who desires women that get called 'sir' in public, and d. want to live out, visible, ... Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - I don't know what to make of this book..........
I thought it was going to be some sort of guide book..instead it's a collection of short stories...one after another of various women who tell us dramatic excerpts of their "first experiences" to falling for the ubiquitous straight girl. The book is short story collection bordering on Lesbian Erotica. Mostly though I was amazed that almost 70% of the stories involve alcohol, a few were deeply depressing low self worth tales, and overall not very inspiring pieces of literature. I wasn't sure what message ... Read More
