I'm not familiar with too many of Karma Wilson's stuff, but this just fit the niche for a Christmas story about big and loveable woodland creatures. The illustrations are bright and warm despite the winter setting and Wilson's rhymes are enchanting and surprisingly one of the few repetitive rhymes my class could stand. Bear doesn't want to be hibernating through the holiday- he wants to spend it with his friends. This one is on our holiday bookshelf. My kids just love it! The pages are filled with oversized pictures/ drawings of Bear and his forest friends (more pictures than words), the type is easy to read even when there is little light, the storyline is simple and flowing with rhymes, the ...
