Editorial Review: Product Description: Math is at the heart of pharmaceutical care. A sound knowledge of math concepts is critical to the success of the Pharmacy Technician. Pharmaceutical Calculations for The Pharmacy Technician focuses on dosage calculations and basic math skills: from simple addition and subtraction to formulas used in dosage calculations to business math concepts. Accuracy in calculations will guide the Pharmacy Technician in the prevention of medication errors. From Doody's Book Review: "This book is innovative and a perfect learning tool. It is one of the first books to acknowledge the importance of a pharmacy technician's job and prepares the student for work in a pharmacy by relating the material to real-life experiences. It is the first book I have seen to include so many pictures of labels taken directly from manufacturers and forms taken directly from hospitals. This is invaluable exposure to what the technicians will see once they are in the working world. This book prepares pharmacy technicians for the responsibility of ensuring a safe healthcare environment by avoiding medication errors." Reviewed by Lindsay I. ![]() Rating: - Received book as describedReceived the used Pharmacology calculations worktext as described and couldn't be happier. Would definitely buy from seller again. Rating: - This book could kill someone. This is by far the worst math book I have ever read. Every chapter in this book has mistakes. The author finds ways to complicate even the simplest math concepts. The authors' formulas are just simply horrible. I usually have to re-write them so that they produce a correct answer. I did a Google search on the author with the word malpractice. He wrote a book on the topic. I wonder if he has first hand experience. Rating: - Save Your Money!I'm a pharmacy tech student and this text was provided as part of the course. The Instructor warned that there were several typo's and things... Five STRUGGLING chapters into it, it went into the trash and I replaced it with Pharmacy Calculations by Mike Johnston. Most of us learned about fractions, percents, etc. in grade school. How this author can take something that simple and complicate it to the point you're confused on doing simple math is beyond belief. Conversion factors on one page ... Read More Rating: - Pay someone to check the book for mistakes.I'm writing a review for this book as a warning to others in the hopes that you don't buy this book. I'm studying for the National Pharm Tech exam and this book as so many mistakes that it is seriously pissing me off. Do they not bother to check for simple mistakes? Every chapter has a mistake, this is not an exageration. The book will contradict itself right on the same page. For example, the book says that 6oz is a cup. Then in the practice question ON THE SAME PAGE, the correct answer is 8oz for ...
