Editorial Review:

Product Description:

The Manual of Trigger Point and Myofascial Therapy offers the reader a comprehensive therapeutic approach for the evaluation and treatment of Myofascial pain and musculoskeletal dysfunction. This user-friendly manual will serve as a quick reference for clinically relevant items that pertain to the identification and management of trigger points.

The first section of the book covers the theory and current research regarding the Myofascial Trigger Point Syndrome. The research is the most current and up-to-date available on the pathogenesis of Myofascial dysfunction, clinical symptoms, physical findings as well as diagnostic criteria. Treatment methods and techniques are also covered in a comprehensive and step-by-step format.

The second section includes the most important muscles that tend to have a higher incidence of the Myofascial involvement. Each muscle is supplemented by two pages of text and illustrations to better aid the student or clinician in an institutional or practicing setting. The muscle page contains a plethora of information for the reader including muscle origin, insertion, location of trigger points, referenced pain patterns, myofascial stretching exercises, positive stretch signs, and biomechanics of injury. Extensive full-color illustrations and pictures include treatment techniques, therapeutic interventions and patient home exercise programs.

This innovative and concise new clinical reference guide is perfect for the student learning about the diagnosis and treatment of the Myofascial Trigger Point Syndrome or therapist interested learning or applying this successful and effective method of treatment.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Highly recommended
For clinicians who are looking to obtain immediate clinical results this text will afford you the opportunity to do just that. A great reference to have in any clinic. This book has improved my knowledge about common locations for trigger points and has enhanced my understanding of how to go about properly identifying, treating, and preventing recurrence of myofascial pain.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not advisable for massage students!
Unless you are a doctor, chiropractor, or clinician, this book is NOT for you. Especially if you are a student of massage therapy. The blocky, often illegible graphics, along with extremely compacted information will confuse rather than help someone who is new to trigger point and myofascial therapy. The compact and highly technical information is only good if you have a really strong background in medical terminology. Students, I suggest looking for a different book.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Informative!
I love this book! It is not only for self help in trigger point therapy, but gives the certified massage therapist a lot of useful information in order to provide relief from trigger points when working with clients!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Better books out there
I had previously bought the book by Clair Davies which is excellent but I wanted more in-depth knowledge. Saw the reviews on this book and ordered it. The cost of the book was definitely not worth the extra information. This book was 3 times the cost of the Clair Davies book with only slightly more useful information. Save your money, buy the Clair Davies book. Or if you really want in-depth knowledge and price is not a factor, buy the 2 volume set by Travell and Simons.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - In depth and informative course
This book has been very informative and I have gained a deeper knowledge of trigger point therapy. I would recommend this book and would like to purchase the video that accompanies this text.
