From the supplier: Engineering students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute participate in an innovative program involving the use of a well-equipped computer-aided design laboratory. Once students complete an introductory course in CAD fundamentals, they use the school's CAD Laboratory to complete research on two major real-life projects that are requirements for graduation. Students have recently developed experiments on the effect of microgravity on vortices, actually performed aboard the space shuttle, as part of this program. Through the center at WPI, students may be involved in projects conducted in cooperation with some 240 companies and governmental agencies. The laboratory is equipped with five Sun Microsystems Inc SPARCStation workstations running Aries ConceptStation MCAE and CADDS 4X software as well as a variety of auxiliary equipment.
