From the supplier: The physiological and performance effects of two frequencies and volumes of long slow distance training in healthy college students without previous marathon running experience are determined. The students were divided into 6-day week and 4-day week training groups, with training duration set at 15 weeks. Both groups trained at 60% to 75% of the heart rate reserve, although the four-day week training group trained with 20% less total volume. Results indicate the suitability of both programs in training novice marathon runners.
