From the supplier: Hybrid origins and taxonomic relationships with other warblers are cited as possible reasons for the presence of rufous crown feathers on adult male Tennessee Warblers. The feathers are common in other Vermivora warblers and are consistent on adult male crowns that are practically gray. Feather colors are a cross between orange and chestnut, although the first color is often clearer in observance.
