From the supplier: Electoral reforms proposed by Lani Guinier have been inaccurately referred to as Madisonian, and, though the cumulative voting scheme she proposes would likely increase minority representation, progress on civil rights issues would unlikely. In allowing voters to select an interest or identity based ticket, the officials elected would better represent their electorate, but extreme conservatives would also gain such representation. James Madison's concept of representative government was based not on specific interests but on legislators operating as public trustees.
