Editorial Review:

Product Description:

For the millions who suffer from the effects of a traumatic experience, this book offers help and hope and provides the diverse elements needed for lasting recovery. Trauma can take many forms, from the most disturbing of circumstances such as witnessing a murder or violent crime to the subtle trauma of living with the effects of abuse or alcoholism. Deep emotional wounds often seem like they will never heal, but Glenn Schiraldi has helped and witnessed survivors recover, grow, and find happiness.

By helping people recognize the coping mechanisms and by dealing directly with the effects of a traumatic experience, there is a great reason for hope. The Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook is a guide for both survivors and their loved ones, helping them to see that on the other side of their pain is recovery and growth.

  • Explains the psychic defenses that can go into effect to protect a victim from further emotional harm
  • Provides information on triggers and the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Addresses how the healing process can begin and how fear diminishes through a variety of medic and nonmedicinal treatment methods

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very good book
Very good book, well worth it. You may also want to try, Sarah Shikitao-Brown's book for a very direct approach, which is excellent too. Tao Cycle Therapy: Natural Happiness via Self Directed Cure for Chronic Anxiety & Depression [Updated 2008 3nd Edition]

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Excellent book on PTSD
This is an excellent overview of PTSD, including the things one needs to know about self-care and managing the disorder. It is an organic disturbance in the mind and the nervous system, and there are ways to live with it.

As the suicide rate for returning veterans continues to climb (and to be unreported by media), PTSD is going to continue to be a public health issue, as will its treatment. This is a clearly-written guide, more for the client than the practicioner.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - 3 star
Written format is detailed and organized similar to reading a textbook which I get enough of from school."The body remembers" is highly recommended if you suffer severe ptsd

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A comprehensive look at the causes of PTSD and how to treat it
Some people's lives are picture-perfect, filled with sunny days, starry nights and happy weekends. The good times just keep on coming. For post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) victims, things also go on forever. Over and over, they mentally relive their most traumatic experiences in a continuing nightmare. PTSD is insidious. First you are the victim of severe, unspeakable trauma. Then, like a ghost, the trauma comes back to haunt you. Many associate PTSD only with combat veterans. However, almost ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Unbelievably good
Hey there,
This book is unbelievably good. It has essential covering on a wide range of topics. Like shame/guilt, pain, sexual healt aspects. I haven't found any week spots in it.
It has concrete action suggestions, is written clearly and with a relaxed tone that can only come from someone who is educated, has great experience and has got it together completely. It is down to earth and couldn't be better for a non-expert self-healer and one doesn't have to be a genious to use it.
