Annie loves her new puppy, Bess, and Bess loves Annie. But what is Bess trying to say when she rattles her bowl or scratches at the door? With a little help from Mom, Annie learns to listen closely and figure out what Bess is telling her. Then the day comes for Annie to go back to school, and poor Bess doesn't know how to say what she wants — until the sound of Annie's bus returning has her wagging all over and leaping for joy. In touchably soft pastels, Kim Lewis displays her keen understanding of lively pups and the children who adore them. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - A girl and her pupThis is a great story for kids who have dogs, kids who live in rural areas, or kids who wish they did. The illustrations are beautiful and the story of Annie learning what Bess wants and their growing bond is wonderful. Also talks about the sadness of being separated while Annie goes to school and the joy of reuniting when she comes home which could be helpful for kids who are leaving behind a pet when they go off to school. Rating: - Fabulous book, gifted authorThis just one of Kim Lewis' books that we own, and we enjoy them each! The illustrations are incredible, the story in this (as with the others) is simple and easy to understand. This book in particular highlights the relationships that children have with their pets, and how changes in their lives impact the relationship. Also, this is a "must own" (along with Floss & Just Like Floss) for any Border Collie enthusiast. Enjoy! Rating: - Cute animal storyThe title intrigued us since we have an "Annie" in our house. Good story, but not the most memorable of all time. Rating: - A Puppy for AnnieThis is the sweetest book and the illustrations are beautiful. The title caught my eye because my 3 year old's name is Annie - she loves this book and we read it together all of the time. This book will go in her keepsake box. I wanted to buy it at Barnes & Noble but Amazon was way cheaper. Worth the price - its a great story. In association with Amazon.com | |
