- Good bookI have only just started using this review but am quite impressed with it. This book was suggested to me by a resident I met as a 4th year while at an interview. I feel that it covers most if not all of the important topics tested on the ABSITE, and has very detailed easy to read explanations. Note that this is purely a Q and A book. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Another book you can try is the Rush review which I am told is also very good.. Rating: - Detailed Q&AI preferred this over the often-used Rush Review for its detailed and easy to understand explanations. Its a standard Q&A text but the author explains why the wrong answers are incorrect, and uses current data to back up his right answers. You can almost read through the answers as a review in and of itself. For my money the major weakness is the lack of a separate critical care chapter, although relevant CC issues are covered under the specific specialty topics. There are many good quality replications of CT scans, angios, etc. which you will be faced with on examinations, so helps in the review process. Rating: - Excellent resource!!!This book is useful for preparation for general surgery shelf in medical school, or the absite, or boards for general surgery residents. Rating: - Decent source of review questionsSeveral of my classmates and I got this book as an ABSITE review source. I think that it has a significant amount of material and covers many subjects well. There are some claims made by the author that I feel are still quite controversial. There were some errors as well, it seems like they were in a rush to get this out for the 2006 ABSITE. Overall, a decent source of questions/answers that covers a lot of ground. Somewhat time consuming. Some chapters much better than others. page 1 of 1
