Books for Prep

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent factual and imaginative book for younger children with beautiful illustrations
I found this book to be extremely helpful in teaching my 4yr old daughter about snails and how they live while also allowing her to see beautiful illustrations and use a bit of her imagination as well; so the book hit three important characteristics that are needed for a child's storybook.
It tells of a child's imaginative journey through his/her garden while watching a snail; the child imagines to become a snail and do what the snail does; the text explains what the snail does and the child repeats it. It was nice to see a childrens book that had beautiful illustrations as opposed to illustrations that use unrealistic and bug-eyed characters as so many do today. My daughter enjoys this and it has become one of her favorite books to have read to her at bedtime or quiet time. Very relaxing as well.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not impressed
I read good reviews of this book online so I ordered it. We are naturalists and it sounded like the perfect book to encourage interest in nature of a preschooler. The illustrations were very nice, but I was not impressed with the story line. I found it boring and not very original. I sent the book back to Amazon.
