- This book is EPIC!!!!!!I was studying my tusik off for the GRE, but every book I had read was stupid and pretty gay. The first time I took the GRE I got a C-, but then I read this book - and smoked a ton of weed - and then I took it again and I got a B-, which is an improvement of 39%. So, you should like, read it. ALSO, it's pretty funny. Rating: - I bought this on the recommendation of my professorsI'll admit that I'm not big on studying for standardized tests, which is why I didn't bother with Kaplan. I got through the whole thing in two days. It won't teach you anything new, but you'll retrieve the answers more quickly because you've seen them recently. I'm sure I was faster and more confident taking the GRE because of this book, and being relaxed probably helped me pull a better score. The math section is terrible. I had to pull out my stats textbook for a proper review. There were some sections where I wanted to argue with the book because I thought it was simplifying matters so much that they were misrepresented. That's always going to be the case with reviews, but you'll still want to think critically about what you're reading. Overall, I'd say it was a very good use of my time and money. P.S. Amazon.com now thinks I would enjoy books about passing the SAT, AP US History, and the second grade. Oh man! Sign me up. I'd ace the second grade! Rating: - Good for last-minute studyingThis book was ideal for last-minue studying for the GRE psych exam. It provides a solid review and was basically a bullet-point list of almost everything you need. As a review, great but if you need more in-depth explanations you will need to find more information elsewhere. I used this in conjunction with Kaplan's book and did quite well on the exam. Definitely buy this if you are going to take the psych gre! Rating: - Great Study BookThis book was ideal for studying for the GRE psych exam. It provides a great review and gives vital information. I would reccomend it to anyone taking the test. Rating: - Solid, but should be used in conjunction with the Kaplan or another study aidThis book is great in that it consolidates an overwhelming amount of information into concise paragraphs and chapters. It's very readable, and easy to get to the next "chapter" so you can bite off small bits at a time. However, it is lacking in depth explanation on most subjects. I worked my way through the Kaplan, then through Cracking, and then took the practice test from ETS. This took me about 6 weeks, and I did really well. I know that the books are kind of expensive, but remember that if you buy This book and the Kaplan, some of the cost will be absorbed by the free shipping. I really liked Cracking--it helped clarify (or summarize) the concepts I was a little "iffy" on, and was a great way to see if I had really absorbed anything from all the other studying I'd been doing. Good luck! In association with Amazon.com | |
