Books for Prep

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fast learning
the high-frequency word list is on target with what the GRE asks and mastering the Barron's MATH problems will guarantee u an 800.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Labor intensive but thorough and very helpful
I used this book along with one of the Princeton Review books to prep for my test. I had exactly 3 weeks to prepare and I used the Princeton Review Book followed by the Barron's Book. While I found the Princeton Review book easier to follow, this book provided a very thorough and needed overview of the test materials and made an excellent second stage of preparation. My recommendation is to use at least two books (this should be one of them) and to utilize the available free sample tests that the ETS/GRE website provides. Practicing with the computer adaptive technology and getting a feel for timing is essential. And, if you can spare more than three weeks that's probably a good idea but overall I have no complaints!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very helpful for review of GRE concepts
I used this book to "re-learn" math concepts and to review the GRE format after being out of school for 4 years. This book covered all of the concepts I needed for the test and gave lots of examples and practice problems. I don't know if it would be helpful to someone needing to learn these ideas from scratch. I also found that the problems presented in this book were harder than the ones on the actual GRE, so it made me feel very prepared when taking the test.

If you want to review all the concepts in this book, give yourself time; at least a month. I used it for six weeks leading up to the test, spending 2-3 hours a day going through it and I just finshed with time enough to take 2-3 full length practice tests.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A review of Barron's How to prepare for the GRE.
The book is carefully written with the test taker in mind.I found the exmples very elaborate and self-explanatory for the average test taker to understand. There are sample test questions at the end of each chapter which for me was very helpful in my preparation for the test. The sample questions mirror the actual test questions so well that the test taker who spends time workimg through them will doubtless leave the testing centre smiling broadly.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good book for reviewing for GRE
This is one of the better books for studying for the GRE. It has lots of vocabulary, which will help you on the test. I highly recommend this book.
