Books for Prep

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - good buy..
I know its a good book, I have used it earlier too and recommend it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very Helpful, But Math Section Scatter-Brained
I thought that this book was helpful with the verbal portions of the GRE, but found the math sections very confusing. The language was kind hard to follow, the book used unneccessary symbols, and fit tons of info on one page in a confusing mess. I am very bad at math, I hate math more then anything in the world, so for someone like me who who really needed help with the math, this book pretty much sucked. In the end I would recommend this book because the other parts of the text are helpful and if you are good at math then I am sure this would help you. I actually recommend getting more then one book, mix and match--I think that's your best bet.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Perhaps the best book for the GRE!
As a former graduate student and someone who has already taken the GRE before, several times, I went into preparing for the GRE in a way that a former prisoner goes back into prison. Those who have taken the test before will understand what I mean. The GRE forces some people, those who want to do particularly well on the test, to kill their social life and become prisoners in their homes studying for this test every single day!

I want to wholeheartedly and without reservations recommend the Barron's GRE book, as it takes the time to cover the subject matter at a degree which surpasses any $1000 Kaplan class you will ever take. It forces you to analyze the questions, analyze your own approach/method, and to truly (I cannot stress this enough) LEARN (not just regurgitate, my friend) the material need for success on the GRE.

The GRE is not a test of regurgitation, but a test of your ability to problem solve, and problem solve well. Match this book with the Princeton review 2008 or 2007 book and you will be golden. Nothing else is needed. You will spend roughly $40 and will accomplish much more than others who have chose to take the expensive GRE courses.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Barron's GRE 2008
I find very imperative to purchase the Barron's as well as the Princeton's review, eventhough, I found the kaplan's review very good also. The princeton's will show you the shortcuts and obviously the psychology involved in their questions since they are the producers for this examination. Since this will be my first time for this test, I like to assume that Princeton's may reserve certain percentage of undisclosed material to make their exams equally challenged to everybody, and that is why I also purchased the Barron's review. Ifound both books to be great books (based on my subject knowledge, not of the GRE testing experience). I feel they complement each other to cover 100 % the material, especially the Barron's which goes little bit more into the subjects. The math was unbelievable and the most frequent used words are very handy the way the are presented. I give both books 5 stars. I will let you know my results after the test.
