- Content is good, but there isn't much of it.I bought this book hoping to get an inside look at pharmaceutical sales. I knew practically nothing before I opened it, and while I certainly feel more knowledgable now, I was quite disappointed with the lack of in-depth content in this book. Throughout every chapter, the author merely skims the surface, leaving you wanting for more information but never providing it. The book is covered in lists and bullet points with little or no explanations. Elaboration or definitions are sometimes necessary but are either not given until later in the book or not provided at all. It seems as if the author could have easily provided much more useful information almost ubiquitously throughout the text but just chose not to. Mind you, I am likely being somewhat harsh (probably in part as a skeptical reaction to the two glowing reviews that this book has so far recieved), and there is good beginner-level content in it. If I go into the world of pharmaceutical sales I'm sure it'll come in handy - just not as handy as I'd have hoped. Rating: - Helped me get a promotion!I bought Ms. Williams' Insider's Guide to the World of Pharmaceutical Sales and landed a job with Pfizer last year. Because that book helped me nail the position after only three weeks, I decided to pick up her new book and it's great! Using the information in Professional Pharmaceutical Selling, I have managed to get myself promoted to a specialty rep position. Although my company training has been excellent, I didn't receive half of the information in this book. It's obvious that Jane Williams keeps up with the industry trends and has an exceptional understanding of the pharmaceutical selling process. I highly recommend this book to anyone in pharmaceutical or medical sales who would like to perform better at their jobs and I suspect that would be all of us. Rating: - Great Sales Resource!I'm a pharmaceutical sales rep with just over one year on the job. After about six weeks of using the information in this Professional Pharmaceutical Selling book, I have much more confidence in my ability to perform well at my job. The different reaction from my docs to my presentations now, is pretty obvious. This book has incredible information in it and I can't begin to describe just how much it has helped me. If you're a pharmaceutical sales rep or plan on becoming one, you really should read this book because I didn't get all of this information during my company training. page 1 of 1
