- Concise, VERY high yieldWell-organized review book with info presented as "bullet" points for easy reading and retainability. Numerous questions and topics covered were on the written boards. A good last-minute read. Rating: - Great study guide!I flew through this book in two weeks! It really focuses on the "test-able" points in a nice bullet format. The ortho, neurosurg, urol, and ENT chapters are awesome and definitely capture all of the crazy questions on the ABSITE. Other classmates have also found it good for the SHELF. I did, however, find it a bit cheaper at generalsurgeryreview.com where there are also a bunch of sample pages. Rating: - The PERFECT text for Students!Dr. Makary's book is perfect for medical students during their surgery clerkship. There are over 800 case based questions interspersed with exam pearls and high yield facts including bullet points for easy memorization. The text presents the basics of surgery in an easy to read, easy to understand format - compiling all the popular surgical texts into one 386 page book. It not only covers general surgery principles but also includes chapters devoted to other surgical specialties. I highly recommend this book! It's the perfect surgical companion! Rating: - Great cases and really useful for ABSITE & written boardsThere were many questions and points from this book directly on the written boards and many from last year's ABSITE. It seems to capture the recurring questions. I would highly recommend this to any surgical resident, specially since it's a good study guide to Cameron's book. page 2 of 2
