Books for Prep

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic photographs!
This book contains innumerable fantastic photographs, information on daily life in Jesus' time and illuminating facts about his teachings. For example, with the Prodigal Son, when he put his signet ring on his finger, he gave him the ability to sign documents in his own name. When he kissed him on the neck, he honored him, for the one of lesser status would reach lower, and at the extreme a slave would kiss the feet.

I found it interesting to see what hairstyles, etc. people wore, just by looking at the photos. I wish it had more words to it - for example, on hairstyles! - there is minimal information on things like what people wore, what they ate, etc. Did women have to wear headscarfs in public? Could little girls not and older girls had to? I can only guess by the pictures. However, it has information I haven't turned up anywhere else - e.g., `How courtyard cisterns work.'

All in all, a wonderful little book put together by people that clearly, looking at their website (nazarethvillage.com) and their book, have a Christian passion for what they have created and the ministry it has. Their enthusiasm comes through, and makes me wish I could have been part of it. I bought this on Amazon because it was cheaper and I'm broke, but you can buy it on their site, to support them a bit, printed in the U.S. or Israel.
