Books for Prep

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - a
Not too sure what to say about this book. I didn't want to give it a bad review bc it is an excellent book, however, it does not work for everyone.
First, the book is very organized and it doesn't use too many big words. Most of the information needed is in the book, though it is more on the sparse end.

The bad: well, this book did not work with me. I tend to like explanations that answer the 'why'. This book doesn't do that. In short, this book is excellent for people who were able to do well in medical school by reading lists and bulleted notes, but not for those who needed to read Robbins.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Blueprints peds
This book is pretty good for studying for the shelf, however doing question banks will likely be more high yield. Overall, much better than a textbook, but still pretty verbose.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - not EXACTLY what i expected
I bought this book in order to finish my studies to USMLE STEP 2. It is comprehensive and up to date but i think it is not focused on the test as many other books are. As so, it enphasizes with too much details some points and keeps to superficial at others. Anyway I would buy it again and I recommend it to whom have a lot of time to prepare for the test because it will take sometime to cover it all but there is nothing you need to know that it is not there!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Decent review book
This book is a fairly good book to be used in reviewing for the board exam, but absolutely requires supplementation. The strong points of this book over others is its inclusion of high-yield material and easy readability, along with charts and illustrations. The primary weakness of this book is its superficial coverage of these high-yield topics, while excluding many other testable topics you will see on the board exam. You might want to look into buying some other question-style books (Case Files, Pre-test, etc...) if you want to honor this clerkship. It's certainly no Surgery Casebook.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - enough for USMLE STEP 2 CK..
I didn't use this book during my pediatric clerkship..I think it is not deatailed enough for new beginners..but it is fairly enough for USMLE STEP2 CK..If you are confused about what to read for pediatrics for USMLE STEP 2 CK, you can definitely pick this book..
