- Doesn't stand alone.Unfortunately, for this book to be useful, you have to own multiple other volumes of the UCV series. In fact, there are photos, as promised, but they are not identified anywhere in this book. Instead, it gives you the page numbers to look up in the other books for the answers. A much better alternative, although it is slightly more expensive: Color Atlas and Text of Clinical Medicine by Charles Forbes, William Jackson, which has more pictures, interesting text, and most importantly, is a great reference that can and does stand alone. I think the Forbes and Jackson book is useful for any step of the USMLE. page 1 of 1
