- DissapointingOverall I am pretty disappointed in this book. Its treatments of the topics are, as others have said, overly simple (dont get me wrong, simple is usually a good thing, but the book is worthless if it dosent give any more detail than what the avg med student can regurgitate from memory any day of the week). It only makes a few basic points about each disease, which includes mostly stuff you should already know. It then ignores the more complex aspects, such as basic mechanism etc that are likely to be tested (usually through a 2nd or 3rd level question that appears more clinical in nature). The book also contains a large number of errors, which are largely conceptual (as in the author is directly saying something that is incorrect) as opposed to grammatical. I dont have any other step2 books to compare to, but i'd avoid it and try one of the others. Rating: - Incredible!WOW, this book is amazing. it has everything you need to know. it written in a very friendly and concise way. it very easy to understand and READ. i strongly recommend this book, for all of you IMG's out there this book is a MUST. dont spend your money on FA for CK, this is the ultimate review for step. I also recommend buying the UW QBank. with this and that you are surely to pass that test. Rating: - Just what I needed! This is a great review book. It isn't swarming in details and really outlines the high yield stuff for step 2 without being overwhelming. Format is similar to a text book...but there are lots of memorization charts that are helpful. Rating: - I LOVE IT!!!!!!!This book is amazing. I used for the USMLE Step 2 CK and get a 220. I used with the First Aid, because this book has different information than the FA. I highly recomend to read chapter 29-34 a couple of time they are very helpful. Good Luck!!!!! Rating: - Well presented chapter but ......If you are looking to add further information to this book ( as is needed from other sources ) the fact that the contents are not in alphabetical order might waste allot of time flipping back and forth and on every occassion having to look to the content table. Unlike First Aid, where the contents are in alphbetical order ( ex: Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Endocrine .... etc.). If it was alphabetical it would allow for faster and more efficient stydying as is needed in preperation of a Step exam. Best of luck. In association with Amazon.com | |
