Books for Prep

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great review if used correctly
This book is in no way comprehensive. How do you review all of medicine in less than 300 pages? It is supposed to be a high yield, easy to read review book, and it is. I highly recommend this book. Must supplement with questions and possibly another high-yield review book. I read this book off and on for 3 weeks, most of First Aid, and did Kaplan Q bank online and got a 258. My only criticism is that the surgery section is terrible. It needs to have much more information and many more topics.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A great book
You know what? Just buy it and read it and take tests, see what's happening!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The title says it all...
I would highly recommend this book. It's shorter than First Aid for step 2, which is another good book but quite lengthy, and it's concise and tells you what you need to know for step 2. I have had a ton of Kaplan Qbank questions that come straight from this book. It's easy to read, good layout, nice summaries. Use with a question book or Qbank for best results.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very good review - gets most of what you need...
This is a well-written text with valuable, pertinent sections. Brochert includes a good balance of high-yield sections + explanations, which allows you to avoid repetitively memorizing facts. If you couple this with QBank, and then add a book or two on your weaker sections, I think you'll do well. Cons? I thought the surgery section was a bit lacking, as you'll see a number of abdominal complaints on the Boards that are glossed over in this book. But the stronger sections more than make up for it. Highly recommended.. if you can read it 312 times back-to-back like some of these speed-readers, good for you. If you're like everyone else, having a good knowledge of the info inside will go a long way. Good luck.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Horrible layout of the very basics
I ordered this book from Amazon because I had heard so much good stuff about it. I just finished packing it up to send it back. After flipping through it, I was amazed at how basic this book is. No treatment, or diff. dx, or anything after the topics. The book honestly FEELS AND LOOKS LIKE IT WAS PRINTED ON A PHOTO COPIER, not a press! Horrible layout and quality (esp. the pictures). This book is only worth your time, if nothing else is available.
