- Good book for TOEFLI bought this book for my mother as she is taking TOEFL class. She told me that this is a very good source for her studying. Rating: - It helps you a lot! This book seems to be an old book, published in March, 2005. However, this provides really awesome contents. It provides general but useful strategies of each section. In spite of being a student, I already five iBT books. I felt this is really helpful, esp. listening section. This is because talking speed is almost same as real iBT test. Other books... sorry, not fast. 'course, this book does not include Audio CDs. If you want to practice listening section, you should pay little bit more. It is worthy of buying. I guarantee that if you complete this book, you might be able to get more than 61 for beginner, more than 79-80 for people who are familiar with iBT TOEFL test. Rating: - Real PRACTICE BookThe most valuable thing offered by this book is PRACTICE without which it is fairly difficult to get a high TOEFL score. I have read through 4 or 5 other books that aim at helping to get ready for TOEFL, and I really found it frustrating that a good half of such 'test guides' is always, or almost always, stuffed with long explanations of the structure of the test and some other theoretical points, which can be easily found in TOEFL bulletin or on the official TOEFL site. Delta's Key to the Next Generation TOEFL test is really a practice book. Its short practical advice on test taking strategies and a lot of exercises and quizes make an effective combination. N.B.: Pay attention that the CDs, which contain listening material for different sections of the book, are offered as a separate item and if one wants to get the most of the practice guide, I think it is a good idea to get the CDs too. However, I must add that it is possible to work with the book without the CDs because all the audioscripts are given in the book. Rating: - A solid course for the New TOEFL- You will need the cdsThe new TOEFL is more than just memorizing grammar. Actually, there is no more grammar section. (That has been moved to the S.A.T. for American kids.) The book has a good selection of example questions. There are examples of scored essays. The integrated tasks of listening, speaking, reading and writing are done very well. There are also good explanations of how the test is administered. You will need to order the cd collection to get the most out of this as listening is now such an integral part of the speaking and writing tasks. A competent tutor would also be worth it. Rating: - I am very happy with your serviceThe books that I bought from you were very good quality and the delivery was prompt.Thank you ! In association with Amazon.com | |
